On December 4th, more than 40 Pittsburgh area activists came together for an important discussion on new models of unionism and union organizing in our community. The discussion, which was a precursor to the formation of Fight Back Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh-based chapter of the United Steelworkers touched on Steelworkers legacy and history, historic big-tent models for union organizing from the IWW to the CIO, and current models for worker organization outside the traditional NLRB framework.
